Accessibility Statement

Last updated:

SereniSleep is a project about inclusion. A website that excluded people would contradict everything it teaches. We are committed to making this site usable by as many people as possible, and to being honest about where we fall short.

ABARKA ONGD is committed to making this website accessible in line with the principles of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA, and with the corresponding requirements of standard EN 301 549. "Partially compliant" means the site meets most of the requirements but not yet all of them. The exceptions are listed below.

Non-accessible content

We know about the following. We are not hiding them.

Non-compliance with the accessibility requirements

  • Downloadable documents. The research reports and other PDFs published on the Results and Resources pages were produced before the site was built and are not tagged for screen readers. If you need any of them in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide one.
  • Machine-assisted translations. Content in Español, Български and Српски may be machine-translated and awaiting human review. Automatic translation can produce phrasing that assistive technology reads awkwardly. Reviewed content is prioritised on the most-visited pages.
  • Images awaiting real descriptions. Some placeholder images are still in place while the project gathers its own photography. Their alternative text describes the placeholder, not final project content.
  • Third-party embedded media. Where video or other content is embedded from another platform, we do not control its player, its captions or its keyboard behaviour.

Disproportionate burden

We do not currently claim disproportionate burden for any part of this site.

Content outside the scope of the legislation

The online course itself is hosted on a separate platform at curso.abarka.org, which runs on different software and is not covered by this statement.

What we have built in

  • A site-wide accessibility panel with controls for text size, line and letter spacing, dyslexia-friendly and high-legibility fonts, high contrast, inverted and monochrome modes, colour-blind filters, link and heading highlighting, a reading guide and mask, larger cursor, animation freezing, image hiding and text-to-speech. Your settings are remembered between visits.
  • Full keyboard operability, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link.
  • Semantic headings and landmarks, one H1 per page, and no skipped levels.
  • Colour contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG AA, in both light and dark mode.
  • Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px, and remains usable at 400% zoom.
  • Respect for your operating system's reduced-motion preference.
  • Four languages, with the page language declared correctly so screen readers pronounce content properly — including Cyrillic for Bulgarian and Serbian.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site stops you using it, we want to know. We would rather hear about it than not.

Email info@ongabarka.org, or use the contact form and choose "Website, technical or content enquiry". Please tell us the page address and what happened. We aim to respond within 15 working days.

If you need any content on this site in a different format — large print, plain text, audio, or an accessible document — ask, and we will provide it.

Enforcement procedure

If you contact us about an accessibility problem and you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter to the competent authority in Spain responsible for monitoring compliance with accessibility legislation.
